NSCDC Anambra Commandant Warns Against Obstruction

Comdt. Maku Olatunde, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State, cautioned the public against obstructing NSCDC personnel while performing their legitimate duties.

This warning followed the arrest of 46-year-old Sunday Ukeh from Odume in Awgu LGA of Enugu State, who allegedly assaulted NSCDC officers during an operation. On Sunday, 26th July 2026, at approximately 11:00 hours, the Anti-Vandalism Squad, led by CSC Nwosu Christian, intercepted a truck suspected of carrying 45,000 litres of adulterated Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Amansea.

Ukeh attempted to evade the officers and nearly ran them over, leading to a chase that ended at a military checkpoint. Upon interception, he allegedly assaulted one of the personnel.

Preliminary investigations revealed discrepancies in the waybill he presented. The truck and its contents have been impounded for further investigation.

Comdt. Olatunde emphasized that any attacks on NSCDC personnel will be met with legal consequences and praised the Anti-Vandalism Squad for their professionalism.
