NSCDC Officer Killed, Daughter Abducted in Kogi Attack

On Monday at approximately 8:30 PM, Mr. Ayo Olukotun, an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), was shot dead, and his daughter was abducted by gunmen in the Odo Er community of Yagba West, Kogi State.

The attack caused panic among residents, who fled for safety. Following the incident, Mr.

Olukotun was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead upon arrival. Hon.

Tosin Olokun, the chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and a member of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. He extended condolences to Mr.

Olukotun's family and urged residents to remain vigilant. Hon.

Leke Joseph Abejid described the incident as tragic and called on the Kogi State government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the immediate release of the abducted daughter. The Kogi State Police Command, represented by ASP Saliu Oyiza, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
