NSCDC and CBN Security Clash Over Missing Child in Awka

A confrontation occurred in Awka, Anambra State, between operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and private security personnel led by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) branch in Awka. The clash arose while NSCDC operatives were conducting a legitimate operation to rescue a four-year-old child who had been taken from a nursery school without the permission of her guardian.

The child's estranged mother was suspected of orchestrating the removal from the school. Tensions escalated when the CSO arrived in a sky blue Lexus RX 330 SUV and obstructed the NSCDC operatives from retrieving the child.

The incident led to panic among residents, who sought safety from potential gunfire as security personnel faced off. Attempts to reach Edwin Okadigbo, the NSCDC Anambra State Command's head, for comments were unsuccessful, but the NSCDC has called for an investigation into the matter.
