NSCIA's Oloyede: No Government Funding Since 2013

Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), addressed the 31st Annual Pre-Ramadan Lecture organized by the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA). He clarified that the NSCIA has not received any government funding since 2013 and operates solely on donations from fewer than 20 individuals, each contributing N500,000.

Oloyede condemned the misinformation surrounding the NSCIA's leadership and warned against framing insecurity, terrorism, and banditry in religious terms, asserting that Islam does not endorse extremism. He urged Muslims to embrace moral responsibility and civic accountability to improve security, emphasizing that poverty is a major driver of insecurity in Nigeria.

Dr. Ridwan Jamiu, speaking at the event, described insurgents as agents of evil, while Lagos State Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa identified poverty as a critical factor contributing to the nation's security challenges.
