NSCIA and Vatican Join Forces Against Hate Speech

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Vatican have collaborated to address the rising issue of hate speech and promote peaceful coexistence among various religious communities in Nigeria. Emin Muhammadu, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of NSCIA, received Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States, during a visit aimed at fostering mutual understanding and cooperation across faiths.

Professor Salisu Shehu, NSCIA's Deputy Secretary General, highlighted the importance of this visit in promoting peace and security not only in Nigeria but globally. The discussions included a strong call for religious communities to work together against hate speech, which has been damaging to social cohesion, and to combat the spread of fake news.

Both leaders expressed optimism about religious cooperation in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for respect among individuals of different faiths and the rejection of atheism among youth.
