NSIB Retrieves Evidence in Warri-Itakpe Train Derailment

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has retrieved critical evidence in its investigation into the train derailment that occurred along the Warri-Itakpe rail corridor on Monday. The investigation team, led by Captain Alex Badeh Jr., visited the accident scene to initiate inquiries, accompanied by Mr.

Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), and Funsho Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport. Captain Badeh expressed the bureau's condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and those injured in the tragic incident, acknowledging the pain and uncertainty it has caused.

He assured the public that the NSIB would conduct a thorough, evidence-based investigation to follow the facts wherever they lead, with the aim of making safety recommendations to address identified risks and prevent future occurrences on the railway network. The NSIB also acknowledged the cooperation of the NRC, the Federal Ministry of Transport, and the Nigerian Air Force in facilitating the investigation.
