NTTF Commends Babcock University for Youth Sports Support

The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) commended Babcock University for its significant support of the national youth teams ahead of international competitions. On August 17, 2026, a delegation from the NTTF, led by Secretary-General Akanmu Olusoji and including national coach Idowu Ayodele and four players, visited the university to present medals and trophies won by athletes who trained there for three weeks.

Babcock University President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Afolarin Olutunde Ojewole, expressed the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent and highlighted the success of the athletes, who won 13 medals at the African Youth Championship in Ghana and four additional medals at the African Youth Cup. Olusoji emphasized the importance of education for athletes, reminding them that sporting careers are not permanent.

The team’s strong performance was attributed to Babcock’s supportive environment, food, and discipline, with standout player Mathew Kuti winning the African Youth Cup.
