NULGE Praises Akwa Ibom Governor for Paying Arrears

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) commended Governor Umo Eno for the payment of outstanding arrears owed to local government workers across the state. In a statement signed by the state president, Comrade Anestina Iweh, the union described the payment as a clear demonstration of the administration's commitment to worker welfare.

The settlement of these long-standing obligations has brought relief to thousands of workers. The union acknowledged the contributions of Frank Archibong, the chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), and Uwemedimo Udo, the chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, along with the 31 local government chairmen, in ensuring the payment of these inherited arrears.

The union noted that this intervention has restored confidence among workers and boosted morale across local government services. The payment reflects the government's understanding of the challenges faced by workers and its determination to improve their welfare.
