Nutrition International Delivers 48,000 Zinc Packs to Sokoto

Nutrition International delivered 48,000 Zinc/ORS packs to Sokoto State, aimed at addressing childhood diarrhea and malnutrition. During the handover, Dr.

Osita Okonkwo, the country director, stressed the necessity for stronger state investment in child health. The donation is intended to help caregivers administer treatment within 24 hours of illness, reducing the risk of severe dehydration and death.

Dr. Umar Abubakar, representing the Sokoto State Commission of Health, acknowledged the donation's significance but noted that it would not cover the entire state.

The support is part of a broader initiative to train health workers in early identification and treatment of diarrhea. Hon.

Tukur Bala Bodinga, the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, welcomed the initiative and pledged to appropriate funds for health interventions. The visit included engagement with health workers at the Rumbukawa Primary Healthcare Centre, showcasing the partnership between Nutrition International and the state health system.
