Nutrition International Delivers Zinc and ORS to Kano State

Nutrition International announced the handover of 29,500 co-packs of Zinc and Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) to the Kano State Government. This initiative, revealed by Dr.

Osita Okonkwo, the Country Director of Nutrition International, aims to address diarrhea, a significant contributor to child mortality among those under five years old. Despite being preventable and treatable, diarrhea remains a major health challenge.

The availability of Zinc and ORS is crucial for ensuring uninterrupted access to life-saving commodities at health facilities. The handover is part of a broader effort to strengthen the state’s drug revolving fund scheme and improve healthcare service delivery.

Dr. Abubakar Ladan, the state commissioner for health, expressed the Kano State Government's commitment to partnering with Nutrition International to enhance healthcare services.

Pharm. Ghali Sule and Salisu Hashim Muhammad also participated in the discussions, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for the health of Kano's citizens.
