NWDC Engages Global Consultancy for Agro-Chemical Training

The North-West Development Commission (NWDC) received a management team from a global chemical security consultancy, led by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, on a courtesy visit to discuss a partnership proposal. Mr. Usman, representing the consultancy, emphasized the need for safety and sustainability in agro-chemical use to improve agriculture in the North-West region, which is vital for food security.
Mr. Buba Shanu, Director of Chemical Security and Safety, presented the proposal focusing on retraining farmers in the safe use of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. He highlighted the risks associated with declining soil productivity and improper chemical application.
The proposed training aims to increase yield, reduce health hazards, and protect the environment. Prof. Ma’aji, MD/CEO of NWDC, acknowledged the initiative's alignment with the Commission's mandate and the interconnectedness of agricultural productivity, insecurity, and youth restiveness.
He assured the team that NWDC would review the proposal for a collaborative framework.
