ADC Candidates Promise N110,000 Wage and Security Reforms

The governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the seven Northwest states of Nigeria have committed to a minimum wage of N110,000 and the establishment of 21 specialist hospitals if elected in the 2027 elections. This pledge was made on Wednesday during the signing of the Northwest ADC Governorship Candidates’ Compact 2027–2031 at the Yar’adua Centre in Abuja.

The compact outlines a regional agenda focused on security, development, and shared prosperity. Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Kebbi State ADC governorship candidate, read the communiqué, emphasizing the urgent need to address the region's insecurity, which has resulted in over 16,000 deaths and more than 1,583 kidnapping incidents since January 2023.

The candidates also plan to declare emergencies in insecurity and education, utilize technology for surveillance, and establish a Northwest Regional Security Coordination Centre. They criticized the APC-led administrations for mismanagement of federal allocations exceeding ₦8.33 trillion from June 2023 to August 2026.
