Nwodo Calls for Economic Revival Blueprint in Southeast

Nnia Nwodo, former Minister of Information and current President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, called on academics to develop a workable blueprint for the economic revival of Southeast Nigeria during a summit held in Nsukka. The summit, themed "Southeast Nigeria Regional Development Strategy," aimed to address the region's socio-economic challenges and promote sustainable development.

Nwodo highlighted that the Southeast was once among the fastest-growing economies during Nigeria's first republic and questioned the factors leading to its decline. He urged professors and academics to deploy their intellectual capacity to find solutions to the region's economic challenges.

Simon Ortuanya, Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, emphasized the need for collaboration to address issues such as insecurity and youth empowerment. The summit also aimed to align regional development efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Ifedi Okwenna, Executive Secretary of the South East Business Investment Summit, identified six pillars necessary for reviving the region's economy, focusing on infrastructure and human capital development.
