OAU Launches CNG Refueling Station for Cleaner Energy

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile Ife has launched a compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria's energy transition. The project, supported by the MDG Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) and Femadec Energy Limited, aims to catalyze investment across Nigeria's gas value chain and deepen domestic gas utilization.

Oluwol Adama, the Executive Director of MDGIF, described the project as a practical demonstration of Nigeria's gas-based energy transition. The initiative is designed to promote cleaner fuel and provide socio-economic benefits to the Nigerian populace.

Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamir, the Vice Chancellor of OAU, commended the project for its potential to foster research opportunities and practical learning in alternative fuels.

Engr. Akinnola Fola, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Femadec Group, reaffirmed the company's commitment to delivering safe and efficient CNG infrastructure nationwide, emphasizing the importance of public-private sector collaboration.
