Olubadan Calls for Peace After Deadly Ibadan Clash

Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadan, has urged for peace among the parties involved in a violent clash in Ojoo, Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State, which resulted in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to several others. The unrest began on Tuesday night due to an argument between a wheelbarrow pusher and a commercial tricycle rider over a transaction that was disrupted by network failure.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the situation escalated when armed individuals appeared, leading to gunfire that claimed lives and caused panic among residents. The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, attributed the unrest to criminal elements and assured residents that those responsible would face prosecution, regardless of their ethnic background.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups in the state. The government has initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the root causes and ensure accountability.
