Obafemi Martins Launches Youth Tournament for Tinubu's Campaign

Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins announced plans to organize a youth football tournament named the "Renewed Hope tournament" in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's campaign for the 2027 general election. The tournament is set to take place in November and will feature youth teams from Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, with the addition of two or three more teams.

Martins emphasized that the initiative aims to create opportunities for young Nigerians through football while expressing his support for Tinubu's political efforts. He stated, “I think I’m just happy to do it for the president with all his hard work and all that.” Martins confirmed that he would personally fund the tournament, adding a political dimension to his recent involvement in Nigerian football discussions.

Additionally, he expressed support for Seyi Tinubu, the president's son, as a potential future president of the Nigeria Football Federation, highlighting his belief in Seyi's understanding of Nigerian needs.
