Obasanjo Brokers Obi-Kwankwaso Alliance for 2027 Election

Akin Osuntokun, the former Political Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, stated that Obasanjo was instrumental in forming the alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso for the upcoming 2027 presidential election. During an interview on Arise Television, Osuntokun refuted claims that Obasanjo was secretly supporting President Bola Tinubu, arguing that such assertions contradict Obasanjo's political actions.

He emphasized that Obasanjo personally facilitated discussions between Obi and Kwankwaso, as both leaders are close to him, and believed their alliance would pose a significant challenge in the election. Osuntokun described Obasanjo as the principal sponsor of the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and noted that discussions for their alliance had occurred years earlier.

He questioned the logic behind claims linking Obasanjo to Tinubu, especially given his role in supporting the opposition ticket. Osuntokun confirmed that Obasanjo brokered the ticket and reiterated its potential impact on the 2027 election.
