Datti Baba-Ahmed: Current Politicians Can't Improve Nigeria

Datti Baba-Ahmed, a prominent member of the opposition in Nigeria and former running mate to Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, stated that none of the politicians challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, including Obi and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have the ability to improve Nigeria. Speaking on the MIC ON Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Baba-Ahmed revealed that he had warned Obi against joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), advising him that it was unsuitable for his political ambitions.

He recounted a personal meeting at the Yar’Adua Centre where he expressed his reservations about Obi's proposed defection. Baba-Ahmed noted that Obi's departure from the ADC within four months validated his concerns.

He also mentioned that Obi's move out of his political comfort zone hindered his ability to influence Obi's decisions. Baba-Ahmed, who left the Labour Party for the Peoples Redemption Party, criticized contradictions in Obi's political positions and advised Tinubu to prepare to hand over power, but not to any of the current challengers.
