Oborevwori Urges New Army GOC to Enhance Niger Delta Security

On Tuesday, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori met with Major General Everest Okoro, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, based in Port Harcourt. During the courtesy visit at the Government House in Asaba, Oborevwori emphasized the importance of strengthening security operations in the Niger Delta, stating that economic growth is jeopardized when lives, businesses, and critical assets are threatened.

He highlighted that Delta State, being a major oil-producing region, requires the protection of its oil and gas facilities, waterways, and businesses to sustain economic activities and attract investments. Oborevwori congratulated Okoro on his appointment and acknowledged the strategic role of the 6 Division in maintaining peace.

He assured Okoro of his administration's continued support for the military, including infrastructure and logistical assistance, to ensure effective operations. The governor urged a proactive approach to security to prevent criminal activities from escalating.
