NANS Demands Action on Offa Polytechnic Crisis

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone C, has called for the immediate dissolution of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, citing "administrative failures" that have disrupted the institution's academic calendar. NANS Zonal Coordinator, Abiola Azeez Babatunde, issued a statement on Saturday, demanding that relevant authorities resolve the ongoing crisis involving the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) within 14 days.

The association claims that the Governing Council has not held statutory meetings for an extended period, leading to unresolved critical matters. NANS questioned the council's justification of security concerns for not meeting, arguing that stakeholders were not adequately informed of any genuine threats.

The students' body has also called for an independent investigation into the council's activities and demanded the restoration of academic activities, along with a credible plan to recover lost academic time. NANS warned of peaceful protests if their demands are not met within the stipulated timeframe.
