Offa Polytechnic Resumes Exams After ASUP Dispute

The Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, resumed its suspended semester examinations on September 21, 2026, following a dispute with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP). The examinations had been disrupted after ASUP members withdrew their services on September 15, 2026, due to concerns over security and the management's decision to hold governing council meetings outside the institution, particularly in Ilorin.

Rector Kamoru Kadiri confirmed that academic activities had returned to normal. ASUP, led by Chairman Yemi Alabi, accused the management of failing to address longstanding issues affecting staff welfare and working conditions.

The union alleged that the management misled the Federal Ministry of Education regarding security concerns and called for Kadiri's suspension over alleged malfeasance. ASUP also declared a vote of no confidence in the principal officers and governing council, demanding immediate action to resolve the security issues before resuming services.
