Officers who assaulted, threatened Sowore must be punished – IPAC petitions IGP

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, calling for the punishment of officers who allegedly assaulted and threatened the life of Omoyele Sowore, the National Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC). Sowore, a human rights activist and presidential candidate for the 2023 election, was arrested after honoring a police invitation but has not been charged publicly.

IPAC's petition, signed by its national Chairman Yusuf Dantalle, condemns the alleged assault on Sowore as a violation of his fundamental human rights and demands a thorough investigation to hold the officers accountable. The petition emphasizes the need for the officers to be dismissed, prosecuted, and charged in court for their unconstitutional actions.
