AFAN Praises Ogun Government for Rescuing Abducted Farmer

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ogun State Chapter, commended the Ogun State government and security agencies for their prompt action that led to the release of Mr. Oreoluwa Osonuga, a 33-year-old poultry farmer, who was abducted on August 9, 2026. Osonuga was intercepted by gunmen while driving out of a farm settlement in Ikenne, where he was shot at and forcibly taken into a nearby bush.

The abductors contacted Osonuga's family, demanding a ransom of N500 million for his release. Following this, security operatives, including the police anti-kidnapping unit and military personnel, initiated a search operation in the surrounding forest, resulting in Osonuga's release.

AFAN's Public Relations Officer, Sogunle Rotimi, expressed gratitude for the security deployment and emphasized the need for effective security to protect farmers and sustain agricultural activities. The association also highlighted ongoing security challenges in the Ikenne area, urging continued efforts to ensure a safe environment for farmers.
