Ogun Assembly Exonerates Ex-Speaker Oluomo of Allegations

The Ogun State House of Assembly passed a resolution exonerating former Speaker Olakunle Oluomo from allegations of embezzlement that were associated with his removal in 2024. This decision was made during a plenary session on Wednesday at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The resolution followed the presentation of a report by the Deputy Speaker, Mrs Lateefat Ajayi, based on a motion Oluomo had presented to the Assembly on March 31. The motion for the adoption of the report was seconded by Mr Yusuf Amosun and was unanimously approved by a voice vote.

The Assembly determined that the embezzlement allegation was not included in the notice of removal served to Oluomo and could not be substantiated with the available evidence. Consequently, the Assembly resolved to overturn Oluomo's removal and classify it as a resignation, emphasizing that this decision was made in the interest of camaraderie, unity, and harmony among its members.
