Ogun Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises to Three

A three-storey building collapsed on Baale Road in Ajuwon, Ogun State, on Monday after a downpour and thunderstorm, resulting in three confirmed deaths. The building housed two shops on the ground floor and residential apartments above.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Eyewitnesses and emergency responders reported the collapse, prompting the Lagos State Government to deploy emergency responders and heavy rescue equipment to assist in the ongoing operations.

As of 11:42 a.m. on Tuesday, 12 individuals had been rescued alive, while three fatalities were confirmed: one adult female, one baby girl, and one elderly man aged 75. Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated that the intervention reflects Lagos State's commitment to regional emergency collaboration and mutual aid.

He extended condolences to the victims' families and commended the efforts of all emergency responders involved.
