Dapo Okunbadejo, the Ogun State Commissioner for Finance, has publicly denied reports circulating on social media that he is considering a deputy governor position in the upcoming 2027 governorship race. In a statement released on Monday, Okunbadejo described these reports as entirely false and misleading, asserting that he has neither engaged in discussions nor shown any interest in political arrangements related to the deputy governor role.

He emphasized his focus on his current responsibilities as Chief Economic Adviser and his commitment to supporting ongoing fiscal and economic reforms within the Ogun State Government. Okunbadejo urged the public and media to disregard the unfounded insinuations and to rely on verified information.

This clarification comes amid rising political realignments within the Ogun State chapter of the Progressives Congress, following a strategic caucus meeting that endorsed Solomon Adeola as the party's preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship elections.
