Ogun Community Demands Action Against Mosque on Waterway

The Iluy Olokuta community in Sango Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area, Ogun State, is embroiled in a dispute with landlord Kabiru Badmu regarding the construction of a mosque on a waterway, which residents claim has worsened flooding in the area. Community leaders, including Oluremilekun Adekunbi, have accused Badmu of erecting an illegal structure that obstructs water flow, leading to significant hardship for residents during heavy rainfall.

The Ogun State Town Planning Authority has been involved, with a meeting scheduled for 2024 to address the issue. Adekunbi emphasized the need for government action to demolish the structure and restore the original waterway design to prevent further flooding.

Residents, including 85-year-old Pa Olu Ayodel and 83-year-old Pastor David Oladapo, have expressed frustration over the government's inaction since a report was made in 2008. They are calling for urgent intervention to alleviate their fears of flooding.
