Ogun Community Demands Secondary School and Bridge

Residents of Orimerunmu Community in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State have appealed to the state government for the establishment of a public secondary school and the construction of a pedestrian bridge at Olowotedo Junction. This appeal was made during a visit by a correspondent on Monday.

The community is several kilometers from Ibafo, forcing schoolchildren to travel through Olowotedo Junction to access secondary schools in neighboring areas. Parents, including Iyabo Tolani and Kehinde Bakare, expressed concerns about the dangers of crossing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the financial burden of transportation, with Tolani stating she spends about N700 daily on her daughter's transport.

The absence of a government secondary school has led children to attend schools in Ibafo, Mowe, Magboro, and Ojodu Berger, which poses additional risks and costs. Ariyo Olalekan, Secretary to the Baale-in-Council, mentioned that residents have repeatedly contacted the Ministry of Education without receiving a response.
