Ogun Officials Arrest Woman for Dumping Waste in Drainage

The Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), in collaboration with the Environmental Health Officers of Sagamu Local Government, apprehended a woman who was filmed dumping refuse into a drainage channel in Sagamu. The incident occurred last Friday and was captured in a viral video, which showed the woman emptying a yellow sack filled with refuse into the drainage during rainfall.

Despite being filmed and confronted, she appeared unperturbed by her actions. OGWAMA confirmed her arrest in a post on X on Tuesday, stating that the apprehension followed the circulation of the video.

The agency emphasized the importance of responsible waste disposal and urged residents to utilize accredited waste collection operators, asserting that maintaining a cleaner Ogun State is a shared responsibility.
