Ogun Seals Quantum Packaging for Illegal Waste Practices

The Ogun State Waste Management Authority sealed Quantum Packaging Nigeria Limited, located along the Lusada-Igbesa Road in Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, for allegedly operating an illegal dumpsite and burning waste. This action was taken for contravening Section 2(b)(a) of the OGWAMA Law 2020 and the Ogun State Environmental and Public Health Law 2006, which prohibit open-air waste burning and unauthorized dumping.

Mr. Farouk Akintunde, the Special Adviser to the Governor and Managing Director of OGWAMA, stated that the company was identified during surveillance of facilities suspected of environmental infractions. The company had previously been warned against indiscriminate waste disposal.

Akintunde noted that the illegal activities posed a serious threat to the environment and public health. The company will remain sealed until it stops operating the illegal dumpsite and develops a remediation plan to clear the accumulated waste.
