Ogun Veteran Journalists Form Electoral Committee

On Thursday, during a congress held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogun State, veteran journalists inaugurated an electoral committee tasked with conducting elections for executive positions within the next three weeks. Dare Folarin was elected as the chairman of the electoral committee, with Dele Ayodo and Kayod Bello as members.

Barr Demola Badejo, the chairman of the steering committee, expressed gratitude to the NUJ leadership for the opportunity to serve and emphasized the committee's responsibility to oversee the affairs of the league. He noted the importance of establishing a formal body for veteran journalists, which has been lacking in the state for decades.

The committee's formation reflects a commitment to due process and democratic principles, with plans for a 2024 press week. The NUJ chairman, Wale Olanrewaju, highlighted the inauguration as a fulfillment of a long-standing vision to strengthen ethical standards in media practice.
