OHCSF Denies Approval of 40% Allowance for Civil Servants

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), led by Stella Oduem, clarified on Wednesday night that reports regarding a 40% peculiar allowance for federal civil servants were inaccurate. Mr.

Eno Olotu, the Director of Press and Public Relations, stated that there has been neither official approval nor communication regarding such an allowance. The OHCSF noted that the circular referenced in the media was related to a meeting held on May 12, aimed at promoting dialogue between the OHCSF and labor organizations under the jurisdiction of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).

The OHCSF reiterated its commitment to maintaining peaceful labor relations and highlighted that a welfare package for civil servants was announced on April 24, which included a full duty tour allowance and a review of peculiar allowances across grade levels. Additionally, a 10 billion naira housing loan scheme was approved to improve access to affordable home ownership for public servants.
