Oju-Ore Bridge Declared Safe by Federal Ministry of Works

On September 11, 2026, the Federal Ministry of Works announced that the Oju-Ore Bridge in Ota, Ogun State, is structurally sound and has passed all required integrity tests. This assurance came after an inspection led by Engr. Musa Saidu, the Director of Bridges, Highways and Road Designs, under the directive of the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi.

The inspection was prompted by social media concerns regarding the bridge's structural integrity. Saidu stated that the project meets engineering standards and described the allegations of defects as unsubstantiated.

He emphasized that engineering assessments should rely on scientific tests rather than social media posts. The contractor, Laralek Construction Company, was noted for satisfactory work, with minor finishing tasks still to be completed.

Saidu also warned against public loitering beneath the bridge during construction, citing safety risks. The ministry expressed confidence in the contractor's ability to complete the project on schedule.
