Godwin Okoko Finishes Second at Absa Ruiru Invitational

Nigeria’s Godwin Okoko achieved a career-best second place at the Absa Ruiru Invitational held in Kenya, showcasing an impressive final-round performance. The 21-year-old golfer recorded a five-under-par 65 in the final round, concluding the tournament with a total score of seven-under-par 203.

This performance earned him Sh227,000 and 172 Order of Merit points within the Sunshine Development Tour. Okoko's round included birdies on the eighth, 13th, 15th, and 18th holes, along with an eagle on the par-five 10th hole.

His only setback was a dropped shot on the sixth hole. He expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating that finishing second boosts his confidence.

The tournament was won by Rwanda’s Celestin Nsanzuwera, who finished at ten-under-par 200, while Kenya Railway Golf Club professional Mike Kisia placed third at six-under-par 204. The event is part of the East Africa Swing, which aims to enhance competitive opportunities for emerging golfers across Africa.
