Nigerian Rapper Oladips Accuses EFCC of Extorting ₦10 Million Before Release

Oladips, a popular Nigerian rapper, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of extorting ₦10 million from him before releasing him following a midnight raid in November 2024. Despite spending five days in detention, no incriminating evidence was found against him.

Oladips revealed on a podcast that he was kept in deplorable conditions in EFCC custody, with poor-quality food provided. He mentioned that fellow artist Zlatan Ibile sent him good meals during his time in detention.

Oladips expressed disbelief at being asked for money despite no evidence being found against him and stated his intention to seek legal action against the EFCC. However, he also expressed uncertainty about how the legal system works in Nigeria.

The incident highlights concerns about corruption and alleged extortion within law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
