Olawepo-Hashim Critiques FCT Election Results as Illusion

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a presidential aspirant from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), condemned the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing them as a political illusion. Speaking at a PDP stakeholders meeting in Abuja, he highlighted the APC's claimed victories in several council chairmanship seats, while the PDP secured wins in Gwagwalada.

Olawepo-Hashim alleged that the APC's success was due to long-standing PDP members defecting under pressure. He emphasized the need for the PDP to mobilize grassroots support and warned against political narratives that distort electoral realities.

The meeting included party leaders and members from the six area councils, where Alhaji Ismail Dogara reaffirmed support for Olawepo-Hashim's presidential bid for 2027. The stakeholders also called for the immediate release of PDP members allegedly detained by security agencies to influence electoral outcomes, amid intensifying rivalry between the PDP and APC in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
