Herders Kill Community Chief in Oyo State Attack

Mutairu Oladosu, a 47-year-old community chief and the Otun Balogun of Okelad, was killed by herders while working on his tomato farm in Okelad, Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State. The attack occurred when a large number of herders, estimated at 300 cattle, invaded the farm and launched an unprovoked assault on Oladosu.

The incident has raised significant concern among local residents, as they fear for their safety and have reported that they can no longer sleep peacefully due to the threat posed by herders in the area. Following the murder, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, was informed and has called for police intervention.

The Oyo State Police, led by Commissioner Olugbenga Abimbola, confirmed the incident and stated that suspects are in custody while further investigations are ongoing. The police assured that justice would be served to those found guilty of the crime.
