Oyo Farmer Accuses Officials of Midnight Farm Raid

Mohan Abubakar, a cattle farmer in Oyo State, accused officials from the Oyo State government of invading his farm located at Ilaju along Eruwa Road in Ido Local Government Area around 4 AM last Thursday. During the raid, the officials reportedly destroyed his home in preparation for Ramadan and killed one cow while taking six others away.

Abubakar stated that he lodged a report at the Ido Police Station following the incident, which occurred during the Sahur period. He claimed that the officials demanded N20 million to reclaim his cattle, which he valued at N10 million, and stated that they had a history of such actions against cattle herders.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlad, confirmed the developments, indicating that the raid was conducted in conjunction with the state Ministry of Environment due to allegations of open grazing by cattle herders.
