Onanuga Defends FG Borrowing for Infrastructure Projects

On Thursday, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, defended the Federal Government's borrowing, stating that funds are being allocated to critical infrastructure projects. During an inspection of the Buruku Bridge across the Katsina-Ala River in Benue State, Onanuga highlighted that this bridge is the fifth being constructed by the Federal Government in the state.

He noted that the project aims to enhance economic activities and connectivity, benefiting farmers and reducing travel time between communities. The bridge is financed through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, with no reported funding issues.

Benue State Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, expressed the state's commitment to delivering one million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing the federal government's infrastructure contributions as a reason for this pledge. He described the Buruku Bridge as a significant project that would alleviate hardships and prevent accidents on the Katsina-Ala River.
