Ondo Police Await Equipment for Nigerian Air Force Crash Recovery

The Ondo State Police Command is currently awaiting heavy equipment from relevant agencies to assist in the recovery of wreckage from a Nigerian Air Force aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, located in the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, disclosed this information after assessing the crash site on Tuesday.
He noted that the difficult terrain, characterized by surrounding creeks and mangroves, has complicated the recovery operation, necessitating the use of a canoe to access the area. Ohagwu confirmed that both human remains and parts of the aircraft have been recovered, and personnel are actively working at the scene.
He stated, “For now, the recovery of the wreckage is still in progress. I will not say much until after the conclusion of the investigation by the relevant agencies.” The authorities are specifically waiting for larger equipment capable of retrieving the wreckage from the water.
