Ondo APC Forms Reconciliation Committee Amid Grievances

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State established a 10-member reconciliation committee on July 30, 2023, to address grievances following the party primaries. The committee is chaired by Biyi Poroye, who is also the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).

APC State Chairman Babatunde Kolawole described post-primary disagreements as typical in democratic politics and emphasized the party's internal conflict resolution mechanisms. He acknowledged the concerns of dissatisfied aspirants, including former Commissioner for Energy Razaq Obe, who cautioned that the National Working Committee's (NWC) name substitutions could hinder the party's success.

The committee has begun consultations with key stakeholders, including Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande and four House of Representatives aspirants affected by the substitutions. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is also working on internal cohesion strategies, but the Mandate Elders Forum, led by Demola Ijabiyi, criticized the reconciliation committee for lacking broad support and consultation with critical party elders.
