Ondo APC Loyalists Sue NWC Over Candidate Replacements

Loyalists of Governor Aiyedatiwa have initiated legal action against the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) concerning the replacement of candidates during the party's primaries. The aggrieved aspirants, represented by law firm Remi Olatubora SAN, filed the suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an interim order to prevent APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from altering the list of candidates that emerged from the primaries held on June 29, 2026.

The case reflects growing discontent within the party, particularly following the inability of several of Aiyedatiwa's preferred candidates to secure tickets. The plaintiffs include Gbenga Elegbeley (Ondo North Senatorial District), Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti (Ondo Central Senatorial District), and others from various constituencies.

The court has been warned that the outcome of this litigation could impact APC's preparations for the 2027 general elections, potentially triggering fresh primaries and altering the party's candidate list.
