Aiyedatiwa Loyalists Sue APC, INEC Over Primaries

A legal dispute has arisen over the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly primaries in Ondo State, with aspirants loyal to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa suing the APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and some candidates. The lawsuit, initiated by Pastor Akingboye Akinleke David, targets the nomination of Hon. Donald Ojogo as the APC candidate for the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the upcoming 2027 general election.

The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja under case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1538/2026, questions the legality of submitting Ojogo's name to INEC, arguing he did not win the primary held on May 16, 2026. Akingboye seeks a court ruling on whether only the candidate with the highest lawful votes can be nominated.

Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa has instructed state APC Chairman Hon. Babatunde Kolawole to form a reconciliation committee, led by Prince Biyi Poroye, to address grievances stemming from the primaries.
