Ondo Assembly Speaker Oladiji Faces Leadership Crisis

Hon. Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, addressed the ongoing leadership crisis on Wednesday, alleging that efforts to remove him are politically motivated due to the upcoming 2027 general elections.

He claimed that his opponents aim to prevent his return as Speaker if he wins re-election next year, asserting that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa supports his continuation in office. Oladiji questioned the timing of the allegations against him, noting that they had not been raised during his three years of leadership.

He accused some lawmakers of being discontent due to their failure to secure the APC ticket for the elections. Oladiji mentioned ongoing reconciliation meetings involving APC leaders to resolve the dispute.

In contrast, Hon. Olatunji Fabiyi, spokesperson for the opposing lawmakers, rejected Oladiji's claims, stating that the move to oust him is unrelated to ticket outcomes and is instead due to misconduct and abuse of office by the Speaker.
