Ondo Assembly Faces Turmoil Over N44m Fund Controversy

The Ondo State House of Assembly is currently experiencing turmoil due to allegations surrounding the management of approximately N44 million released by the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC). This situation has intensified tensions within the 26-member assembly, particularly following a recent impeachment attempt against Speaker Rt.

Hon. Olamide Oladiji.

Sources claim that Oladiji is under pressure from colleagues regarding the disbursement of the funds, which were intended for all members. Allegations suggest that he has not adequately involved members in the allocation process, leading to discontent.

The controversy also affects Deputy Speaker Ololade Gbegudu and raises speculation about the potential redeployment of Clerk Mr. Benjamin Jaiyeola.

Although Oladiji considered resigning, he was persuaded to stay in office, reportedly due to the intervention of influential political stakeholders. He has publicly denied all allegations, asserting that there is no leadership crisis and that the claims are politically motivated fabrications.
