Ondo Community Seeks Governor's Help in Regent Crisis

The community in Ondo State has urgently requested intervention from Governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa regarding a protracted regent appointment crisis that has arisen since the death of the monarch, Oba Adebayo Temikotan, in August 2022.

The Olor Council has expressed concerns that the ongoing vacancy of the regent's stool could destabilize the town. Youth leader Prince Adebayo Adeyemi highlighted that certain individuals are obstructing the governor's efforts to appoint a new regent, urging an investigation into these actions.

He warned that the lack of a regent could lead to unrest and chaos within the community. In November 2020, the government appointed a regent, but subsequent legal actions have hindered the process.

Recently, the governor approved the appointment of High Chief Adenika Benjamin Adaja as the new regent, yet there are still attempts to restrain this decision, prompting Adeyemi to call for swift action to resolve the matter and maintain law and order.
