Ondo Community Protests Alleged Plot to Dethrone Monarch

Residents of Jinrinwo in Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo State, have raised concerns about an alleged plot to dethrone their monarch, Oba Olawol Ajimosun. They have called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to intervene to prevent this situation.

A statement issued by the community's union claims that government officials are planning to remove Oba Ajimosun and install an unknown individual. Oba Ajimosun was appointed as the Oloja of Jinrinwo in 2021, following the endorsement of the Olugbo of Ugbo.

The Ondo State government initiated a process in September 2025, allegedly to impose a total stranger as the new monarch. In response, Oba Ajimosun has sought legal recourse, with a case pending in the High Court in Okitipupa.

The Ondo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, has denied the allegations, asserting that the government will not impose a candidate and that the community should select its leader.
