Gunmen Kidnap Farmers in Ondo, Demand N100m Ransom

In Ondo State, gunmen kidnapped two farmers while they were working on their farms, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release. The incident occurred when the victims were feeding animals, and Yemi Omowale, one of the farmers who escaped, witnessed the attack.

He described how a masked assailant armed with an AK-47 approached Adetan Adebanjo Gbemi before others joined in the assault. The kidnappers have contacted the wife of one victim regarding the ransom.

Omowale urged security agencies and the government to assist in rescuing the abducted farmers unharmed. The incident has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun.

DSP Jimoh Abayomi, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed that a report of missing persons was received and that a joint security team, including police operatives and local vigilantes, has been deployed to conduct search and rescue operations.
