Benue State Faces Herdsmen Attacks: Only Six LGAs Safe, SEMA Reveals

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management, James Iorpuu, disclosed that only six local government areas in Benue State are free from herdsmen attacks. These areas include Ogbadibo, Ohimini, Konshisha, Gboko, and Ushongo.

Iorpuu emphasized the need for a lasting solution to the displacement of residents due to flooding and attacks. He also addressed the recent State Emergency Management Agencies Conference in Lagos to enhance disaster response strategies.

Iorpuu dismissed reports of poor performance by the Benue State Emergency Management Agency under Governor Hyacinth Alia's administration. The government has borrowed money for development projects, indicating purposeful leadership and accountability.
