Konyaspor's Coach Prioritizes Onuachu Over Salah

Konyaspor head coach İlhan Palut stated that his team focused on neutralizing Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, considering him a bigger threat than Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, during their 1-0 win over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig. Palut emphasized that the team specifically trained to limit Onuachu's opportunities, which proved effective as he finished the match without a shot and only 15 touches, with just two in the penalty area.

Hungarian midfielder Rajmund Toth scored the only goal of the match, helping Konyaspor avenge their defeat to Trabzonspor in the 2026 Turkish Cup final and break a four-match league losing streak. Onuachu, who played the full 90 minutes, had recently recovered from an injury sustained in a previous match against Gençlerbirliği, where he scored his first two league goals of the season.

He is expected to be available for Nigeria's upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
